![]() If you want to put it into Blogsy or some other app, you're options are limited to the aforementioned or copying and pasting.Īs for Drafts, it has an extensive approach to document management. You can start a txt document and it can save onto your iDevice (which is accessible via iCloud), onto Dropbox or e-mail it and that's pretty much it. In terms of features, iA Writer is extremely minimal. Where Drafts truly excels is in the way it manages documents. Drafts keyboard on the other hand is up to date and while the interface isn't as streamlined for the creative process as iA Writer is, it still works as a distraction-free word processor. However as of this post, I do have one problem with iA Writer (version 1.9.1) and that is the keyboard is stuck in the pre iOS 7 era. Writing is a dream and you want to see your thoughts and words spread out on the document. There's something about the font, blue cursor, and choice keyboard additions that make it a breeze to jump into. While both Drafts and iA Writer pull this off extremely well, iA Writer does it better. ![]() That's why a cleverly designed interface that's built to accept your work and to keep you there is incredibly important. But the real question is which one deserves your hard earned money more?Ĭomputers these days are designed to do everything and anything, so it's extremely forgiveable to have a lapse in focus and get distracted. While these are all valid options, I find that the best of the bunch that are the most effective is Drafts and iA Writer. Many apps are thrown out there in this department like Evernote, Byword, My Writing Spot, Write 2 or Apples own Pages. During the day when you're out and about, it's easy to pull out your iPhone or iPad Mini to do a little bit of creative and productive writing during those small pockets of time. But it will be hard for writers that love iA Writer and those looking for a great writing tool not to drool.Word processing for iOS is a bountiful well of possibilities with a lot of variety. It’s priced at $20 on the Mac and $20 on iOS. Watch the head of Information Architects explain how Writer Pro was made: As you type, you can see the reading time, number of sentences, words, and character count for your document. There’s iCloud sync to keep documents up to date between the Mac and iOS versions. Writer Pro automatically formats Markdown syntax as you write, which is great for writers who deal with HTML. Syntax Control currently supports English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. IA Writer had a “Focus” feature that blurred out everything but the sentence you were currently writing, and Syntax control is a natural extension of that with much more to offer. No more redundancy and saying the same things twice! The killer feature is “Syntax Control,” a tool that scans your text and breaks it down into its different elements, like nouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, and conjunctions. If you write often, this allows you to see and correct words or phrases you often repeat. Each one serves its own purpose and comes with its own, custom-made font. The app is broken down into four different modes: Note, Write, Edit, and Read.
